To update Netgear extender's firmware:

  • Plug your Netgear extender in a power outlet.
  • Connect your Netgear extender to the router.
  • Open a computer, laptop or a mobile device and connect it to Netgear_Ext SSID.
  • Launch an internet browser on your connected device and enter mywifiext.net.
  • Log in to your Netgear extender.
  • Your browser might display the Menu icon. If yes, click on it.
  • Netgear extender menu displays.
  • Now, you have to access the firmware update page.
  • Select Settings and then the Firmware Update option.
  • In case you don't see that option, select Maintenance option and after that, click on Firmware Upgrade button.
  • Click on Check Online or Check button (the label varies by the extender).
  • If the new firmware version is available, follow the on-screen prompts and update the latest version of Netgear firmware.

  • Power on your Netgear extender. Connect it with your router's network.
  • Launch a web browser on a computer, mobile device or laptop. Connect it to Netgear_Ext.
  • Load up an internet browser and type mywifiext or 192.168.1.250 in its address bar.
  • Hit Enter.
  • Netgear extender login page displays.
  • Enter the default admin username and password.
  • Click on LOG IN.
  • The Status page will display.
  • If your web browser displays the Menu icon, click on it.
  • The Netgear extender menu displays.
  • Select the Settings option to view and adjust your Netgear extender’s settings.
Note: If you have personalized your Netgear extender's default login credentials and you have forgot them, reset your Netgear extender.

To reset Netgear extender:

  • Disconnect your Netgear range extender from the connected devices and make sure that it is properly plugged in.
  • Once done, grab any pointed object and carefully insert it into the reset hole situated on your Netgear WiFi range extender.
  • Hold the reset hole and release it.
